Congratulations to senior Michael Bass (trumpet) on his selection to the Texas Private School Music Educators Association All-State Band.
The concert was held Saturday, February 2nd at Evans Auditorium on the campus of Texas State University.
CCA's band and orchestra programs begin in fifth grade. Fifth graders meet with Mrs. Straus for a class period twice a week. Each student chooses an instrument to learn to play for the year and either rents or buys an instrument. Home practice is essential for success. Each group works on music for concerts and special programs during the school year.
Middle school and high school bands/orchestras continue to build on fundamentals while working on graded music literature. These groups perform in concerts each year, and students have opportunities to participate in region band/orchestra and prepare for solo and ensemble contest.
Advanced high school instrumentalists are encouraged to audition for the All State Orchestra or the All State Band. This three-day event will be held this year in San Marcos and brings together the best musicians from private schools throughout Texas.
All members of the middle school and high school bands are invited and encouraged to play in the pep band during home football games. The high school band plays at every pep rally.
Every year for at least the last concert of the school year, we combine string and band students to perform a full orchestra piece.
